Below are the database queries which are used to create this measure. These are run against a copy of the BSA prescribing data which we store in Google BigQuery. We're working on making our BigQuery tables publicly available at which point it will be possible to run and modify these queries yourself. But even where code and database queries are not directly useable by others we believe it is always preferable to make them public.
|Description||Items prescribed of nebivolol 2.5mg tablets as a proportion of all nebivolol items prescribed|
|Why it matters||Nebivolol is a beta-blocker used in heart failure. Many patients can't tolerate a full 5mg dose. However, the 2.5mg tablet is significantly more expensive than the equivalent number of 5mg tablets, which are scored so they can be broken. Ideally, the 2.5mg tablets should be reserved for patients who are unable to tolerate the full dose and are also unable to break the 5mg tablets in half.|
