Below are the database queries which are used to create this measure. These are run against a copy of the BSA prescribing data which we store in Google BigQuery. We're working on making our BigQuery tables publicly available at which point it will be possible to run and modify these queries yourself. But even where code and database queries are not directly useable by others we believe it is always preferable to make them public.
Description | Cost of dosulepin per 1000 patients |
---|---|
Why it matters | Dosulepin, formerly known as dothiepin, is a tricyclic antidepressant. NICE guidance on depression in adults has a ‘do not do’ recommendation: Do not switch to, or start, dosulepin because evidence supporting its tolerability relative to other antidepressants is outweighed by the increased cardiac risk and toxicity in overdose. Due to the significant safety concerns advised by NICE, the joint clinical working group considered dosulepin suitable for inclusion in this guidance. For guidance on when prescribing may be appropriate in some exceptional circumstances, please see the full NHS England guidance document. |
